Director's Bio
Dianna Kifer
Dianna was raised in Dundalk, the youngest of four children. Her fondest memories are of family gatherings at Christmas time and on the July 4th holiday. After graduating from Dundalk High School in 1978 she went away to attend Lenoir-Rhyne College (now Lenoir-Rhyne University) in Hickory, North Carolina.
Immediately after graduating college in 1982 with a BA in Early Childhood Education and Special Education for the Deaf, she began teaching in a preschool satellite program for deaf children in Arkansas, 1,100 miles from home. Many of the children she served in her position lived in a cycle of poverty, which left a strong impression on Dianna.
After two years Dianna returned to Dundalk. There were no jobs available in the deaf school in the area, so she began to look at other types of positions. She was offered a position in a child care center and has been working in the child care field ever since. She came to Middle River Baptist Church Child Development Center in 1999, first as a teacher. After earning her Master of Arts in Education degree in 2007, she became the director of the center.
She is committed to providing the best that she possibly can for each child, each parent, and each staff member. As the director, she wants to see the center to become the best that it can be.
Her prayer is that the children, families, and staff come to know the love that God has for them, and to become everything that God intends for them to be.
