Car Seat Safety

Do you know the latest car seat laws? Are you aware that the number of children dying in car crashes has dropped dramatically since car seat laws came into effect?

As of October 1, 2012, Maryland Law requires that children under the age of eight are required by law to be in child safety restraints while riding in a vehicle. Children over the age of eight that cannot be properly restrained with a car seat belt must still be in a child restraint system, according to the law.

The following video clip explains how a child's body is effected by a crash, and how to properly restrain a child to prevent serious injury.

Fact sheets are posted on our Information Files page.
